Life on a New Diet

Starting around age 19, my body kind of went out of control and I had no clue what was happening! Constant stomach problems, hair falling out, heart palpitations, dizziness all the time, nausea, it was all so weird! I finally went to a nutritionist/holistic medicine doctor who solved all my problems! While I am not celiacs or traditional "gluten free" like others, I made major changes to my diet and feel so much better today! If you are also gluten free/ketogenic and have an awesome recipe, feel free to contact me!

If it has flour, say no

So yes, I cheat a little, I will have the occasional bite of whatever my boyfriend is eating, full of carbs and flour deliciousness, but I stay away from anything that has white or wheat flour. Not worth it for what it will do to me the next day!

But what can I drink?

Whenever out with my friends, I always stick to tequila and wine. They are both agave/fruit based, no potatoes, corn, etc. You can't go wrong!

Finding Substitutes

At first, I stayed away from gluten/flour completely. Over time, I started adding things into my diet to try, like gluten free pasta (made from rice), making mashed cauliflower instead of potatoes, etc. Pinterest is a wonderful place to find ideas!

Ketogenic Diet

Recently, my doctor told me to try the ketogenic diet (think Paleo, but with some dairy and you are allowed processed meats). It's pretty easy to get used to, I feel great, and I definitely recommend it for anyone going through the same symptoms I have!

Sample Day

Breakfast: scrambled eggs with shredded cheddar, crumbled sausage

Snack: Almonds

Lunch: Lettuce wraps with turkey, carrots, pepperjack cheese

Dinner: Chili (ground beef, tomatoes, cheese)
or
Enchilada casserole (noodles on the side for the boyfriend)
